CenteringPregnancy is prenatal care that combines a typical check-up with more time and attention in a group setting.  CenteringPregnancy is a way for you to share, learn, and grow with other pregnant women, and it is a way to be an active partner in your own care.

How will my care work?

You will be assigned to a group with other women who are due near the same time.

This group will meet for 10 sessions during their pregnancy. You know when all of these sessions are up front, which makes scheduling easy for you.

Each group visit lasts 1.5 hours with their provider leading the sessions. There is no waiting room time with these groups!

At each visit:

  • You will check your blood pressure, heart rate and weight (we’ll help you with this if you need it)

  • You have a brief, private check-up with the doctor, including an ultrasound to check baby and a chance to ask any private questions

  • The group chats about the day’s topic, with the chance to share experiences and advice as well as support each other. Some topics include:

    • Common symptoms for each part of pregancy

    • What labor and birth will be like

    • Newborn care

    • Community speakers including lactation counselors, doulas, and community resource representatives

  • At every group, you get a small gift, like a swaddle or pacifier, as well as have light snacks available

Each mom receives a CenteringPregnancy notebook with tons of information and pages to help them track their health, pregnancy progress, and the growth of their baby.
